Tony Lopez
May 22, 1938 - March 1, 2012
Tony Lopez was more than just a good husband and father; more than a sports enthusiast. An avid writer and poet, he was also Gee’s best-friend. Protector and opinionated, Tony was never shy about saying what was on his mind. In school he excelled in academics, he attended Milby High School. He was in ROTC, played Basketball and Baseball. He met, courted, and married Gee his best friend. His favorite time spent was going to events with her. Whether it was a dance or taking Gee to the rodeo cook-off, he would proudly think, sorry guys she married me.
He coached Anthony in little league Baseball. Tony taught him how to steal 2nd base once the pitcher drop his shoulder towards home plate, that’s when you run. He said, "Once you learn that no one can throw you out; No one. Practice it, you’ll see". Besides Baseball, he also followed Anthony in Football, Debate, and Choir.
He enjoyed watching his daughter Laura play soccer and son Erick play Baseball. Both were in school band, and excelled in music.
His family was his pride and joy. In 2001 and 2004 he was blessed with two Granddaughters Emily and Ashley. He is survived by His Wife Gee, His Son Anthony and his Daughter-in-Law Joy, His son Erick, his Grand Daughters Emily Michelle and Ashley Paige, and his nephew Ricky Compean. He is also survived by Mary Garza Sister-in Law, his nephew Albert Garza, Joann Ferreira Sister in Law, nieces Lisa, Carmen and nephew Fernando, Roy Salazar Brother-in Law, niece Sonja and nephews Gilbert and Roy Jr. He is also survived by family members of the Padilla Family Johnny and Joe Nephews and Erma his niece. He is preceded in death by his Father, Clemente Lopez, His Mother Octavia Lopez, his Father- in-Law Alphonso Salazar, his brother Roy Lopez, his sister Dora Padilla, Sister Norma Compean, niece Laura Compean, nephew Robert Compean, and Daughter, Laura Michelle Lopez.
BE
Lost
On a painted sky
Where the clouds are hung
For the poet's eye
You may find him
If you may find him
There
On a distant shore
By the wings of dreams
Through an open door
You may know him
If you may
Be
As a page that aches for a word
Which speaks on a theme that is timeless
And the one God will make for your day
Sing
As a song in search of a voice that is silent
And the Sun God will make for your way
And we dance
To a whispered voice
Overheard by the soul
Undertook by the heart
And you may know it
If you may know it
While the sand
Would become the stone
Which begat the spark
Turned to living bone
Holy, holy
Sanctus, sanctus
Be
As a page that aches for a word
Which speaks on a theme that is timeless
And the one God will make for your day
Sing
As a song in search of a voice that is silent
And the one God will make for your way
